General Description

  • General objective

    The objective of this course is to provide the attendant with a detailed understanding of sand management, the course starts by addressing the downhole issues such as sand failure, its causes and remedies in order to give a clear understanding of the complete sand production process from the reservoir to surface.

  • Audience

    This course is a very practical course, it has been designed to integrate the engineering and operational aspects of the Sand Management Process. Its content will be very useful to people involved in production optimization, production technology, supervision and management, field personnel.

Juan Tovar

Juan Tovar is an engineer with over 41 years of experience in the oil & gas industry, a Mechanical Engineer from the UCV and a MSc in PE from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. Started his career as a field engineer with Dowell Schlumberger in Venezuela and worked in the UAE, Libya, the North Sea (UK & Norway) and Algeria for 9 years. Moved to Italy to work for SIAT as the R&D manager for Coiled Tubing and well intervention operations. In 1994 co-founded IESL in Aberdeen, Scotland. An engineering and technology company that specialises in geomechanics, well construction, completion and production engineering projects, the company has successfully executed over 500 projects worldwide.
